Fibrous texture for high-speed bearings
Sodium greases, recognisable by their characteristic fibrous texture and stringy appearance, were for decades the standard for high-speed bearings. Although displaced in many applications by lithium and lithium complex, they are still used for their excellent high-speed behaviour and good mechanical stability under sustained shear.
