Cryogenic Greases

Lubrication at ultra-low temperatures — from −60°C to −196°C — LNG, aerospace and cryogenics

Cryogenic greases based on PFPE (perfluoropolyether) with PTFE thickener for the lubrication of mechanisms operating below −50°C, down to −196°C (liquid nitrogen) and beyond. At these temperatures, conventional mineral and synthetic oils solidify completely — only PFPE maintains its fluidity and lubricating capacity. Applications in LNG plants, cryogenic storage systems for oxygen and nitrogen, rocket valve and satellite mechanisms, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment.

Characteristics

  • PFPE base — operational down to −200°C without solidification
  • PTFE thickener — structural stability in the cryogenic range
  • Completely inert — does not react with LNG, liquid O₂ or liquid N₂
  • No water vapour — does not form ice in valve mechanisms
  • Compatible with metals, cryogenic elastomers and high-performance plastics

Typical applications

  • Valves and actuators in LNG plants
  • Liquid nitrogen storage and distribution systems
  • Valve mechanisms in rocket propulsion and satellites
  • MRI equipment — liquid helium cryostats
  • Research laboratories with cryogenic equipment

Sectors
