Graphite Greases

Graphite solid lubricant for high-load open gears and extreme conditions

Greases and lubricants with colloidal graphite as the primary solid lubricant for open gears, large-scale transmissions, steel cables and high-load joints. Graphite (C) has a lamellar structure allowing slip between crystalline planes even at very high temperatures and extreme pressures — unlike MoS₂, graphite is stable in air above 400°C and can be used in oxidising atmospheres. Suitable for press gears, ball mills, excavators, steelworks and mining.

Characteristics

  • Colloidal graphite — solid lubricant stable to 450°C in air
  • Lamellar structure — easy shear under extreme load conditions
  • No chemical degradation in oxidising atmospheres (advantage over MoS₂)
  • High EP resistance — withstands extreme contact pressures
  • Compatible with mineral and synthetic base as required

Typical applications

  • Open gears on ball mills and cement mills
  • Forging and stamping press transmissions
  • Steel cables in cranes, bridges and underground mining
  • Excavator and backhoe crown teeth
  • Shafts and pivots in high-temperature steelworks machinery

Sectors

Mining & quarryingCement & building materialsSteel & rolling millsConstruction & civil worksPaper & pulp

Key advantages

  • Stable at 450°C in air — outperforms MoS₂ in oxidising atmospheres
  • Very low friction coefficient under extreme load
  • Excellent adhesion to metal surfaces — does not drip
  • Universal compatibility — does not react with most metals
  • Natural, non-toxic alternative to MoS₂ in many applications
